Anagram Solver
An anagram uses exactly the same letters as the original — every letter, exactly once. Enter your letters and the Anagram Solver returns the dictionary words with precisely that letter count, which makes it ideal for anagram puzzles and checking whether a scramble hides a real word.
LetterTrove uses one general English word list — a filtered version of dwyl/english-words (words_alpha.txt), derived from the Moby/Infochimps English word data, kept to lowercase words of 2–12 letters. Common, recognisable words are listed first within each length group, and two-letter results are limited to recognised everyday English. We don’t claim every entry is common modern English or valid in any particular word game. See the About page for full source details.
How to use the Anagram Solver
- Type the scrambled letters into the box.
- Press Solve — results contain exactly your letters, rearranged.
- No exact match? Try the Word Unscrambler to also see shorter words.
Unlike the unscrambler, this solver never drops or adds letters: a seven-letter input only returns seven-letter words with an identical letter inventory.
What makes an anagram different
An anagram rearranges every letter of your input into a new word — nothing added, nothing left over. So a six-letter input only ever returns six-letter words with exactly the same letter counts.
The Word Unscrambler, by contrast, also returns shorter words made from a subset of your letters. If the Anagram Solver finds nothing, that usually means no dictionary word uses all your letters at once — try the unscrambler to see the shorter plays instead.
- Exact length: results always match your input length.
- Exact counts: two e’s in your input means two e’s in every result.
- No wildcards: every letter must be known. For unknown tiles, use the Pattern Finder.
