What each number means
Words are runs of non-whitespace characters, so “well-known” counts as one word and “don’t” as one. Characters is the full length including spaces; No spaces strips all whitespace.
Sentences are counted by terminal punctuation (. ! ? …); a line with no closing punctuation still counts as one if it has text. Paragraphs are blocks separated by a blank line.
Reading time is estimated at 200 words per minute. Actual reading speed varies depending on the reader and the type of text, so use the result as a guide rather than an exact time.
