Character Counter
Trimming a bio, a meta description or a headline? The Character Counter shows totals with and without spaces, plus a breakdown of letters, digits, spaces, words and lines — all live as you type.
How to use the Character Counter
- Type or paste your text into the box.
- Watch every count update instantly.
- Compare “with spaces” and “without spaces” against your limit.
Counts are computed in your browser the moment you type, so there is no waiting and nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Characters, letters, spaces and lines
Characters counts Unicode code points, so an emoji or accented letter counts as one character — not as two behind the scenes. No spaces removes every whitespace character (spaces, tabs, line breaks).
Letters counts only a–z and A–Z. Digits counts 0–9. Spaces counts literal space characters only — tabs and newlines aren’t included in that figure. Lines is the number of newline-separated lines.
That distinction matters for limits: a 160-character SMS limit usually counts everything, while a “letters only” field ignores digits and punctuation.
